Much of Japan's culture and architecture came from China.

The nunnery is built in the Tang style. Japanese culture is hightly influenced during this particular period as Japan has sent a lot of scholars to China to study about almost all aspects of life. Japan has, so to say, preserved the architectural style they once adopted from Tang-China.

The Chi Lin Nunnery was actually built in 1930, but it was just recently restored in the style of Tang Dynasty (AD 618-907).
10/10. Magnificent Chinese architecture in a tranquil and comfortable environment.

You would think something like this would be hundreds of years old.. but it's 5 years old.
Anyways, I've been there a few times, but just at the outdoor area because it closes very early.

Okey, this was build when? If it was build in 2000 I can't rate it anything other than a plain 0, if it was in the 1930s it would definatly get a higher rating, so when was it?
