No; these are the Salt Ranges. Your going from 100 down to at least down to 20 in some cases but many didn't bother to listen. Many have died on this piece of the M2.

Not sure why they made it like that; your technically going up a steep hill which lasts for a while.

nice pics man!!! the only thing I can say is that the roads look a little bit empty compared to what I am used to in the netherlands. 'friendship tunnel'; where is it situated??

Empty yes; some were taken in the middle of nowhere and some are toll routes which were undercontruction.

Still traffic is low but it should increase overtime; people will have to start using it to get from one part of the city to another.

Foreigners can't drive in China... only Chinese citizens. BTW, that highway through Shanghai is one of the coolest stretches of road I've ever been on. It was like an elevated highway through Manhattan. There were huge skyscrapers on both sides of it for miles!! :)

That's true .....

One of the reasons is that most of them are toll expressways, and very expensive.

Another reason is that distance between some cities is among 200 - 300 kms (average)....so some of the pictures where taken in the middle of nowhere ;)

Really wide roads and huge interchanges are nothing more than a sign of bad city planning. If the city is planned right it can keep traffic flowing, meaning that you don't need wide roads. If there are traffic problems in a city then putting a wider road in doesn't solve the problem, it just creates a bigger problem at the junctions when people pull off onto the narrow streets.

A highway is ''a main public road, especially one connecting towns and cities''.

A highway can be a freeway, two lane road, or even a gravel or dirt road. A highway can take on many forms. ie: Alaska Highway. Trans Canada Highway, Pacific Highway etc.

The highway you were refering to with the 1 lane bridges with the railway in the middle is on Highway 6 down the remote westcoast of the south island.

i think you're right! it was on every bridge over there on the west coast of the south island and more places. highway one is on the east side of the island. :)
in europe it's normal to speak about a highway if it's a motorway/ autosnelweg/autobahn/autostrada/autopista/autoroute. broad roads with 2x2 or more than 2x2 lanes.

Those North Korean Motorways are amazing and also empty; that's because North Korea owns everything including the cars I heard. I've seen images of North Korea; it's a interesting country...everyone similes...actually your forced to smile infront of cameras and you have to dress "properly". It's very erry and empty especially in the capital city where 2 MILLION people live!

^^^ Some of the stretches are incomplete,maybe that's why the traffic is so less. Another reaso maybe that travelling in cars from city to city has still to catch up in India. Most of the families prefer India's vast railway network. The car sales are not bad though. Last year, over 1 million cars were sold.

Here are some pics of Atlanta freeways.

The double striped lanes on the left are HOV (High Occupancy Vehicle) lanes, which only allow for vehicles with 2 or more people, motorcycles, and busses. This helps to encourage car pooling which in turn will (theoretically) reduce traffic. The freeway posted here is called the Downtown Connector, and is a merge of I-75 and I-85.

This is Georgia 400, a state freeway that connects many of Atlanta's more affluent suburbs to the city. It has less lanes than most Atlanta freeways, but the traffic is usually pretty heavy to horendous, so don't let these weekend pictures decieve you. Also, through a good stretch of this freeway, the MARTA (metro atlanta rapid transit association) trains run through the middle of it. I like racing them....

Some aerialpics from my hometown Vantaa, Finland. Vantaa offers access to almost all major motorways in Finland, making this town together with Finlands largest airport a superior place for business. The most important road is Kehä III which runs through the whole town (Ringway III, part of E18 which offers access on one end to Turku and in the other end St. Petersbourg.

Urban expressways are mushrooming like mad in Indian cities, transforming their faces considerably. All of India's highways have a 100km/h speed limit, while expressways have a speed limit of 120km/h. However, nobody follows them, especially on the Mumbai-Pune expressway (which feels more like a German road than an Indian one).

For right-handed people (89% of europeans people), it's far easier to use right-hand to change speed. so it's more logical to be seated on the left and to drive on the right.

From my point of view, nowadays Spanish highways are the best.
Yup, the newly-built highways are among the world's best!
But the government MUST refurbish the old higways such as Madrid-Burgos (A-1), MADRID-ZARAGOZA (A-2)!!!, Madrid-Honrubia (A-3) and Madrid-Sevilla (A-4); they're PATHETIC!

Australia's M1 motorway below:

This motorway is the largest and busiest regional motorway in Australia and runs between the two cities of Brisbane and Gold Coast. Given that they are so close together it attracts a lot of commuter traffic. It is eight lanes wide for the most part but goes up to 12 lanes in some places.

Motorway's in Oz are called that because they have tolls on them don't they? Non tolls roads in QLD, NSW and in all other states are called Freeways.

No, the term freeway has nothing to do with tolls. It means a path free of at-grade intersections.
