The new six-lane 1.6 km long bridge stretching from Stonecutters Island to Tsing Yi will serve as a crucial link to connect the eastern New Territories with Hong Kong International Airport and North Lantau. It will also straddle the Rambler Channel at the entrance of the Kwai Chung Container Port regarded as the busiest port in the world.

It will be completed by 2006. The new cross-boundary link is expected to bring a net economic benefit of $175 billion over the 20 year planning horizon from 2000 to 2020.

The new link will be a landmark for the Pearl River Delta, and a symbol of close collaboration and partnership between the two jurisdictions. It will help alleviate traffic at the nearly saturated existing vehicular boundary crossings at Lok Ma Chau, Man Kam To and Sha Tau Kok, and boost further economic development, particularly in the areas of finance, logistics and tourism. It will also strengthen Hong Kong's position as the hub of the delta region.

I love Hong Kong. Along with Singapore! There both so modern, but still have the great asian culture.

Though's bridge's are huge. Gonna cost a lot of money!

Also, this bridge links Hong Kong with both Macau and Zhuhai, so One bridge, Three Cities.
