This building will be next to the Chinese Theater (currently a surface parking lot).

The Hollywood Orange Building is a neutral building with a definitive presence. Adjacent to a historical landmark and tourist attraction, it is situated on the site and configured to create a maximum amount of public space at three levels including the roof terrace. It will have retail businesses. On the exterior it is a continuous form made of faceted planes and the interior is a continuous circuit of movement all the way up to the public plaza at the roof.

Doesn't this group own Hollywood and Highland? This looks like another version of that, although better looking. I don't think you can have a flashy facade and expect people to go in from being attracted to all the colors. Hollywood and Orange seems to be following the same mistakes. The project at sunset and Vine is so much better. You can actually see the stores. And it doesnt give you that sense of urban overload like this project.

Interesting, but it looks a little cheesy. The main criticism is that it looks like it will be inhospitable during the hot summer. Gotta be better than a parking lot though.

it is called HOLLYWOOD & ORANGE because it is located on the corner of hollywood blvd and orange street.

btw, i don't think it looks cheesy at all - i like it quite a lot. that billboard tower at hollywood and highland - now THAT is cheesy.

It kind of looks like a heap of scrap metal painted drab. I think they could have done better. Especially with such a high profile lot right next to the chinese theater. They should have at least made it flush with the street instead of providing that little setback on Hollywood Bl.

that little setback is one of the good things about it. small plazas like this invite people into the building and also provide an attractive gathering space for pedestrians, just off the busy sidewalk. kinda like a mini park.
also, have you noticed that the chinese theater next door also has a (very successful) setback like this. :)
