Okay my nephew, his girlfriend, his daughter, and myself was suppose to spend the day in Santa Barbara. We got off to a late start, so our alternate plans took us locally to Laguna Beach. I hope you enjoy the scenes, we sure did.

Fantastic pics. I'll have to go there sometime. I've actually been there last year just passing by. That city looks as perfect as it gets. California is the greatest state to have so many fantastic cities, especially in southern California.

Its certainly a nice area down there.
Route 1 is lined with little boutique shops for miles although there is a hell of alot of traffic travelling through there.
Are those bare patches on the hills in the background areas that were destroyed by fire a little while back?

Thanks, yes the traffic is pretty bad on route 1. I do enjoy the fact that you really get to notice much more on the ride since you're aren't moving all that fast.

Those brown patches you asked about, I can't say for sure if this was where the fire was. It was several years ago, but I kind of think it was further away from the coast. It could be those patches haven't been developed. It does seem strange because most hillside communities here are usually already built out, especially this close to the coast where land is very scarce.

Ah... I was at Laguna last week... I was at my friend's beach house

I think theyd still be black if it was from the fires a few months ago. That's probably just the way those hills look now. I think the trees around the houses were just imported instead of actually existing there beforehand. The fires were more towards the desert tens of miles to the east. Laguna is the coast, so I doubt the fires were there.

Laguna Hills I do believe had a big fire several years back. I think it was about 9-10 years ago.

Great pics. That shopping area looks like La Jolla in San Diego.

Oh come on LAsam, stop taking everything so personal and get all butt hurt. that's how I felt when i was a newbie and then learn to deal it and join in.

You know guys are jerks and they like talking smack but nothing too personal and insulting.

Dude this is not Ohio anymore.... your with the big boys now!!!

People give him a break and back off......

Are we all serious. It is totally bizarre to go so far in the archives and bump a 3 year old thread but it isn't like this is dated material. I'm sure there are a lot of lurkers and posters who have never seen Laguna Beach and these are good pics so chill.

Everyone needs to lay off LASam! I don't post as much as some of you, and have been around these boards for 2 years and I've never seen this thread myself. So what if its an old thread? Those were some fantastic pics of Laguna Beach taken by ChrisLA, for it really captured the lively energy and bohemian feel of that beach town. Makes me want to drive on down to the O.C. right now!

It's Okay LASam, don't take it too personally. Don't blame them, they all get a little cranky this time of year. Must be all the sand stuck in their panties. :)

Yeah, I would too if I could afford it!!!

You know there's a problem when people in that city making six figures have a trouble finding a decent place they can actually afford there. The Oprah-ization of Santa Barbara certainly isn't helping it.

goleta next door to sb is cheaper as is parts of summerland. also, there are parts of sb that aren't all oprazized.

But even Goleta isn't that inexpensive... My boss lives there and he tells me that only reason he can afford it it's because he bought a while back.
