i'm curious about that greyed out parcel between olympic and 11th, with that round tower in its southwest corner. i keep seeing it in different renderings, but no explainations are given. of course i hope for residential/retail/entertainment. actually, if it was up to me, then all buildings in dt should have retail on the ground floor.

I'm sorry but this reeks of suburbia. Do we really need another Citywalk? There are enough of these big shopping malls posing as urban centers around metropolitan Los Angeles. But now its going to be juxtaposed into the downtown core. Meh..well it's a start.

It'll be different than the citywalk though.

first : it probably won't suck ;)

2nd : it's centralized.

3rd : there's residential mixed into the project, so hopefully, there will always be some type of "flow" of people around the area.

hopefully this will spur more development around the area!

I don't know about "gay" but the name is unfortunate. Luckily, I think that most people will just refer to it as Staples Center.

Tho I hate to agree with someone (something?) called a Rape Machine, I have to agree the name is terrible. I bet they change it. And, perhaps it's just really bad renderings, but it also look sickeningly cheesy and tacky too...hoping for the best.
