The tower is too plain, but austere anyway.

8.5/10 It's called "the Pearl of the Baltic Sea" and "the Queen of Lake Mälaren", I really like it.

The building might look a bit plain from far but when you get close to it... it's nothing but spectacular! I can recommend any visitor to Stockholm to go on a guided tour there. The early 20th century was the culmination of Swedish architecture. The Stockholm city hall was built when the fashion was changing from neo-realism to neo-classicism which you can see in the austere brick but the tower top is graceful. The swedish 20s century neo-classicism is ofter referd to as "Swedish grace" by the way. The interior with all the details and craftmanship is quite spectacular. As you might know, this is the place where the Nobel dinner is every year after the ceremony in the concert hall.

A kind of very unique and coherent compromise between early 20 cent. modernism and historicism. Perfectly located on the spectacular Stockholm's waterfront. The thing I don't like, however, is this uninspiring pseudo-baroque helmet which culminates the tower.
