First here is my take on Downtown as i drove around today.
Hey guys, i was in Downtown LA and i was specifically loooking for some of the projects that are underway and to see how some places have changed.
Overall, DTLA is definitley headed in the right direction. I saw multiple BID crews cleaning the streets, mostly around south park and the spring street area, i saw 3 movies being filmed, and i actually saw a "crane city" in south park.
Elleven is going up quick (rebar already on the way up), forest city project nearing completion, as are 3 or 4 other projects in that area. cant wait to see the change in 2 years.
Spring street and Broadway are also seeing some nice changes. cleaning up a bit, more people around, and also more conversions on the way. I also think the next boom site like south park might be the pershing square area. very accessible to rail, around many markets and little stores and has some restauarants in the area. very good area for change.
Also, the Alexan Savoy in Little Tokyo is huge! damn, that thing made a big impression on the street, but unfourtanatley, its a 4 -5 story complex, but hopefully, other projects will soon be highrises.
The Wilshire area from Vermont to Downtown has changed so much in the last couple of years. Plenty of investment, the street is cleaner, the park is back, although still needs some TLC, and the empty lots and parking lots are all asking to be developed into nice highrise housing. So much potential there. i think that area could eventiually be a great neighborhood in downtown,.
It was nice to see some changes downtown and im getting really excited about the chances of our vision of DTLA becoming a reality. Cant wait for Grand Ave and LA Live to brek ground so we cna see some changes to our skyline and to see some other projects announced. Sorry i dont have pics, i forgot my camera.
Also, here is the link to the SSC downtown LA Update thread, with 1021 posts and 42,000 views.
