Below the Acropolis is the marble theater of Herod Atticus built by the Romans in 161 AD and still used today for classical concerts, ballet, performances of high cultural value. Today you can watch original Sophocles, Aeschylus, Euripides and Aristophanes plays.

Very good condition. I like it, but the ones of Marcellus and Augustus appeal me more.

What about acoustics. This is the most important characteristic of these theaters. I believe that the best theaters use a hill behind them to enchance acoustics. Have you ever been to a summer night open theater to feel it?

In Toulouse, the theatre du soleil often do outdoor representations. But I never been to one. Only indoor theatre.

The acoustics are brilliant.
When I went, the tour guide got us to sit in the top row and he droped a pin onto the stage. We could clearly hear the pin drop and it was loud!

When we ent to the other theatre in Peloponisos, The guide had a paper bag and he scrunched it up with us being at the top row and It could again by eaily heard loud and clear.
