Lexington, KY is on a roll....3 percent unemloyment according to Bureau of Labor Statistics, 4 percent payroll growth in a year and 4,000 new housing permits in 2004 according to the NHBA....I wonder if this is the next hot southern midwestern city. To put this Lexington boom in perspective this is more housing permits than San Francisco Metro, amazing!!!

And with a conservative, no growth governor and a mayor who might overcome it. Good luck, hope all goes well. Melbourne, Australia where I now live.

Since when has central Kentucky been Midwestern? Hell even the southern Ohio Valley is barely Midwestern.

I don't know about that. since 2000, Lexington has lost 7.1k jobs.

I find that hard to believe, is that a complete loss or they lost that many jobs and still gained some. Either way it is growing pretty nicely so there must be enough jobs for the people coming in. Where are you getting your job loss statistics?

Cool, I left in 92 when i grad high school, joined the navy and never came back but 5 times to see family. my folks live in Bristol since 92. I have a friend that lived in Fred Creek.
What is funny is that we folks from haysi went to pikeville to shop and it was a big time town for us...haysi is was only 200 people and less now!
Nope we gays are not liked very much there. :)
