Silicon valley I would say. Bangalore is good too, but its sorta congested. They have to build a metro, an airport, ew expressways etc. When those projects are completed, I would say Bangalore, but till then Silicon Valey.

What I'm saying is that it's not going as well as it used to. We've had a good lot of job losses in the IT sector in the past few years and some companies have closed down (eg: Gateway in Dublin). There hasn't been a huge decline though and it still contributes a lot to Ireland's GDP.

Thing is I'm not sure on the specific stats on all this but as a student in college, I can tell you that a lot of people aren't taking up computer related courses because they think it'll be hard for them to get jobs.

India will oust everyone in the next decade and become the world's #1 IT hub. At the moment, Silicon Valley but in the future Banglore. In europe, Poland will be a future IT hub due to the need for many computers there. Many companies want to relocate or open factories there.

SAP is Headquartered in Walldorf
Infinion in Munich
The Dresdner Bank has its HQ in Frankfurt a.M. (since WW 2)

Well you could see Leipzig, Dresden and Chemnitz as one region.

China must be top 2 of the list, because of the high skilled employees and relatively low salary standard. IBM/Intel/SAP/else.. are enlarging their China company.

That would for me a reason for a bad region for IT jobs, but a good region for IT companies.
If you are highly skilled, why don't you go somewhere where you get more for your skill?

More and more IT companies are enlarging their China company and reducing employees in Euro and North America. Just because Chinese are smarter and more diligent. Actually I myself is an employee of IBM China. IBM has just reduced about 13,000 employees in Euro and IBM Shanghai Lab is enlarging very fastly. More and more projects are assigned to China Lab. IBM is moving its Asia Pacific Headquarter to Shanghai from Tokyo as well (now 2 AP HQs exists).

Yangtze, what has that to do with my point, as long as your income is still smaller I rather work here. I have no problem finding a job here.
And google just opened a new IT research office in Zürich, so I see no problem there. The ETH gives a good education, and is among the best universities.
