Bosporus Bridge is not only a very important part of the scenery of modern Istanbul - it's one of the best points to have a really good view over Istanbul. But it also was a good place to jump down to kill yourself, so it's closed for walking ;-(
But every year thousands (last year they said about 40 000 000) people join the Avrasya Marathon from asian Part to european part of Istanbul just to enjoy walking from Asia to Europe ...

And it's worth the little walk:

Again there was a avrasya marathon yesterday, thousands walking over the bridge, where generally only cars are allowed - and thousands taking pictures from different places, taking pictures on the bridge showing the great view and taking pictures of the bridge itself ...

there are 2 bridges
the 1st one is longer but the 2nd one is wider

Btw some photos here are outdated right now, because bridge is painted to white(or light grey) which was its original color. The second bridge was also white, so both bridges are same color right now.

2006 İstanbul 1/100 000 plan does not! aim a new bridge for istanbul,
that means 'yes!! there will be a new brdige'
anyway!!
the last word was, to build the 3rd bridge between older 2 bridge... because north part of the city is covered with forests.
and yes.. light show is good...
