Wouldn't it be easier juz to bridge the opening of the bay instead of in the middle?

There will be another bridge or tunnel in that position built soon

That is awesome, incredible, spectacular,... but its necessary, isn't it sufficient with a big short bridge or tunnel in the opennig of the bay? how you said.

It is high above the water, and going to be built defore 2008 Olympics. China is building bridges very fast

Both are necessary. It will connect the new Qingdao city (Huangdao) to the old city. And new Qingdao city would be as large as old one. So the traffic is expected very high.

The openning of the bay is one the deepest sea-route in China and in the world. So it is a little easier to build longer bridge first actually.

If they build bridges very fast, that leads to shoddy construction and it won't last for a long time, it'll probably wear out faster than they think.

WOW, it's long, maybe too long.

Would make a lot more sense to build a bridge at the opening of the bay and then a smaller bridge connecting the east part to the north part. A lot less expensive.

someone mentioned that the depth at the shortest route is too deep so it's cheaper to build the currrent one.
