woah! I always love seeing the new futuristic mega-projects from China.... it's going to be an amazing in a few decades, not that it's not already an amazing place for seeing skyscrapers and density.... wow, so many cool buildings in this plan, hope they build them all.... by the way, does anyone know what's in the rings around that one building complex with the ring connecting the bunch of buildings? It would be awesome if it had some kind of tram system in it....

^ i think qiajiang represent hangzhou, thus hangzhou CBD is named after qianjiang.
completion date are mentioned for some buildings but not for the whole CBD. Since all the buildings here are UC or already completed, then most of them can be done before 2008.

This project is absolutely amazing!
Btw, some more info about the first building you saw in the thread.
Zhe Jiang Fortune Finance Center
Hangzhou - China
Status: Proposal
Architect: John Portman & Associates (http://www.portmanusa.com/)
The Zhe Jiang Fortune Finance Center site is ideally located in the Hangzhou Qian Jiang New City. In response to the master plan, two office towers were created, a 722 foot (220 meter) main tower and a 328 foot (100 meter) secondary tower, one flowing into the other. The towers are set into a plaza of bustling retail space, contrasted with tranquil water features.
As they reach for the sky, the towers present breathtaking panoramic city and river views. The opening between the towers creates a visual gateway to the green promenade in the center of the new business district, while the manner in which the shorter tower stretches up towards its towering twin maintains the strong connection and relationship between the two buildings.

i liv in china and the construction of skyscrapers here is just insane, they r everywhere, theres probly almost nowhere in china u can go and not see one, to me, this project just seems like one of the hundred others going on in pretty much all chinese cities, the problem is that all chinese cities just look so similar and the fact that are all building skyscrapers at similar rates is just going to keep that the same.

Qianjiang a district in the city of Hangzhou, Zhejiang province. The reason Qianjiang is called a city is direct mistranslation from Chinese. i.e. In Chinese, something city does not necessarily mean that it is a proper city, it can be a part of a city, if you know what I mean (a bit confusing, I know)..
Another Q......wuz there any old building in this area....meaning was it a green field area or a brown field.....an entire new development or a redevelopment of old part of city!
That I don't know, I hope people from Hangzhou would answer your questions.
btw, I think buildings in Hangzhou has strict height limitations, just as in Xi'an, correct me if I am wrong. :)
