I just found out about this today when I picked up the newest Condo Guide. I don't think I've ever seen such a tacky and shoddy ad before. It just shows plain text on a black background and those flashy yellow lights.

The website is pretty bad too, low-res crappy graphics with not much info yet since it hasn't officially been released yet. They say it is going to be in Cabbagetown, any have any info? Is this townhomes/condos or whatever?

Anyone?

This sounds like new condos in the entertainment district...perhaps near the TIFF Tower

"CONVENIENTLY LOCATED OVERLOOKING HISTORIC CABBAGETOWN"... I guess it is not in the entertainment district after all

Well, technically the CN Tower overlooks Cabbagetown from around there...
But it also overlooks Scarbrough, North York, Mississauga, Richmond Hill... :D

Since when was Cabbagetown located in the Entertainment District??

The pics look Cabbagetownish to me.

And yeah.. the website screams 1996.

You are to blame

I like the crappy website, no pretense of being upscale there.

Rendering up! I'm generally not a big fan of this style of condos and it's a bit too bulky but it's not as bad as I'd expect it to look like.

Hey I just noticed there's nothing but Bimmers (and one Audi) right across the street from St. Jamestown! Actually this is accurate because I shop at Food Basics. That's my 330CI on the left.

The crane smashed down on the site during high winds during a storm the other night.
What surprises me is that the wind gusts were only 65 km/h and it came down. These cranes should be able to handle higher winds than that. Otherwise there'd be a lot more cranes coming down all over the place.

They wrote under their image:

They've been working on this site for ages and it seemed like they just kept building new things and then knocking them right back down again. We joked that it was a training site and they weren't actually putting up a building at all. Finally in the last month or so they've actually started building things and NOT tearing them down -- it looked like they were really serious this time. And then the wind knocked the crane down and smashed a bunch of their work.

I don't think I'd want to buy one of these condos. They might be cursed. Also, many condo-shoppers might be deterred by the sheer number of hookers on this block.

So they've been building things and then tearing them down? If I were a buyer, I'd back out of this project so fast! Everything about it sounds so shady.

So they've been building things and then tearing them down?

They are using a underground parkade built many years ago for an unbuilt tower. They probably erected some temporary shelters for the welders grinding the rust of the exposed rebar which the author is confused about

Lard Tunderin Jaisus I am glad it did not happen when I was nosing around there
the other day, picking up a mouthwatering Oxtail with rice and peas takeout from Mr. Jerk.
The Scottish in me couldn't bear to see a perfectly good oxtail dinner get squashed...
