What's the ten longest vehicular bridge in the world regardless of whether it's a suspensions bridge or whatever bridge? I was given to understand that it's a causeway in the USA or something almost 30 km long

^ Wasn't it severly damaged in the storm? I saw helicopter news footage that clearly showed large gaps in the roadway on at least on side. Looked pretty bad.

What exactly is the benefit of these floating bridges, and why aren't there more around the world? I mean, those lakes must be awfully deep for them to not want to build piers.

They should build a bridge linking Delaware with New Jersey. The Freedom bridge. Would have 2 lanes in each direction. Would have call boxes ever 2 miles. would extend the garden state pwy an extra 17 miles. would be the longest bridge on the east coast. it would be a cable stayed bridge for the main span and a truss bridge for the apporachs to cable stayed bridge.

Lake Washington & Hood Canal (which is a fjord of Puget Sound) were both carved by glaciers & really deep.
