What's your favorite U. S. suspension bridge? Mine is self-evident (see my avatar). I rate the rest in the follwing order:
2-Bay Bridge
3-Verrazano Narrows
4-Mackinac
5-Brooklyn

Bay bridge will be #2 with the new span, but for now, I think Either Verranzano of Brooklyn is #2. After Golden Gate, of course

The Goden Gate is not only my favorite U. S. suspension bridge, it is - in my view - the greatest bridge on the face of the earth! I have seen pictures of newer ultra-modern bridges from all around the world, but the GG remains the most imposing and majestic engineering icon of it's kind; and much like the Eiffel tower, the most recognizable worldwide.

I like the bay bridge personaly. Driving into SF from the bay bridge has an special feeling about it. It seems to have a more tough and working class feel to it. The Golden Gate seems to be more symbolic to California. It's a tourist bridge.

I agree, but the GG is still the hotter sibling.

I'll go with The Golden Gate. The bridge serves as a gateway to The US if you're coming from Asia just like the Verrazano Narrows is for the East Coast!
I also like the Brooklyn Bridge but it lack the span compared to Golden Gate!

Royal Gorge bridge in Canon City, Colorado! I grew up 8 miles from it. 1,053 above the Arkansas River. Highest suspension bridge in the World. My favorite!

Being a New Yorker and never having made it to San francisco I might be a little biased. But I love the scale of the Verrazano, coupled with its simplicity. Not too dressed up. A simple, look at me, I'm a giant. Thats my fave. Tied for second is Brooklyn and the always underestimated George Washington Bridge. Then Golden Gate and Manhattan Bridge, then Whitestone and Queensboro Bridge, rounding out the top 10 is Mackinac, Throgs Neck, and Ben Franklin

Mackinac Bridge doesn't get enough credit in my opinion.

How could you forget the Ambassador Bridge in Detroit?
You GOTTA watch this flash presentation on the bridge's website... I've never felt so energized and pumped-up about a bridge!

Wow some one dug this up from the grave. Of course the GGB is the best looking bridge there is. After that I would go with Brooklyn, Bay (because its 2, and soon 3 bridges in one!), Narrows, and the other one I've never even heard of.
