Shun Hing Square
Shenzhen, China
HEIGHT: 384m/1,260 feet
FLOORS: 69 floors
COMPLETION: 1996
ARCHITECT: K.Y. Cheung Design Associates
Shun Hing Square is the tallest steel building in China and the tallest building overall in Shenzhen. The tower is a thin slab with rounded corners clad in glass. Aluminum and glass covers the larger faces. Two turrets on the roof of the building conceal window-washing equipment and support the twin masts.
Shun Hing Square also provides offices, apartments, and a shopping arcade complex. The shopping arcade is a five-storey mall with four sets of escalators, five passenger lifts and two service lifts and a floor area ranging from 3450m2 to 4900m2. There is an observation floor called "Meridian View Centre" at the 69th floor.

I like the double spire too, but the facade seems just a bit bland. Sort of needs some texture or something... It reminds me too much of those glassy corporate highrises in Houston for my taste.
I only give it an 8.5/10

7/10 - This tower reminds me, somehow, of a transistor radio; it has an interesting, sleek 50's look, especially with its curves and those "fins" visible on the last picture. I also like the blue on the facade. And the two antennas work well, because the curving setbacks fit them into the curves of the tower, emphasizing its symnetry.
It doesn't soar skyward as well as it might, however; it's a bit blocky broadside on, and could probably use some setbacks or indentations.
Finally, those contrasting strips along the facade are NOT the right color at all, and it would help the height if they were vertical.

I like this building although the front facade is a bit blocky, the pic of it from the side is great...gives it a futuristic look from that angle...love the double spires as well....8.5/10

What a stupid remark. They don't even count it into the height. On my first visit to the building in 1997 I was told that it is 325m tall. The CTBUH decided to count the spires into the official height.

the building doesnt look so bad but i HATE those spires that go 11 feet past my cities talles tower (empire state building) and it is STILL considered taller...Yea well ESB has a 1500' antenna...take that big green thing!:bleep:
(note...because of its severe cheatage past my fav tower i gave it a 3 or less...empire state building is CLEARLY taller)
same thing goes for CITIC plaza in guangzouh (<how do you spell it?)

I kept changing my mind about this one, trying to be objective. For some subconscious reason I cannot figure out I really love it. But the rational part of my brain just "likes it a lot". Since I cant answer for the left part of my brain, I'll let the right side do the talking. Nice shape, clever use of the spires at the top. Like the color and the facade, shiny yet solid at the same time. Blends in well, except maybe the color is a little off. Distinctive building with great height. Really really nice, high marks from me!

I don't like it all that much- to me it looks kinda weak. It's only 69 floors but the 7th tallest in the world- seems to me that it should have more floors. But w/that said, I think this design should warrant a bldg only half its size. Looks more like a novelty and not a landmark tower. Kinda tacky.

It's even better in real. It's OMG so soaring, the color is so cool, the laser at night is a killer, it's very pedestrian friendly and the observation deck is really cool ! Although comparatively expensive. The view from the top is of course unbeatable. You have to change lift one time to go to the top, there's no direct lift. The inside looks very futuristic and as some kind of nice and cool glow. Really a top-quality tower.
I would re-rate it 9.5.

A sleek and sexy design that accentuates height. However, glass facade coloring is poor slightly spoils the design by making the building a bit garrish. Otherwise, a building with a lot of merit.

I love the double spire. The sea green color isn't very attractive, and I hate how it kind of bulges up at the top between the spires. I love the double spires, but to make it more impressive they should leave more room at the top there. It looks like it's hunching its shoulders...
