Wow I have'nt posted in awhile!
Anyways, just saw in the condo guide a preview for the lates CityPlace condo called "Panorama". Does anyone have information on this yet (height, floors, renderings, etc)?

Central Park? How unoriginal is that?
As for Panorama... it's probably not signature. I would assum Signature would be the last building to go onsale out of all of them. I could be wrong of course though.

Preliminary details are a tower of about 25-28 floors with a 8 floor podium located off the main construction site south of the Gardiner east of Bathurst by Lakeshore.

Panorama doesn't sound like a "Cityplace" name when you look at the names of their other buildings.

I'm so confused. There are so many buildings going in this general area I've lost track. Someone should do a list of them so we can keep track.

Interesting, the ad, and the rendering are implying something Tall....

phunky
January 9th, 2007, 07:51 AM
neat it's going to have direct entrance to your unit from the elevator. so I guess it will be one unit per floor? or double door elevators...
i don't think it's necessarily going to be that tall, just it's going to be in a good location for a "panorama" of the city.
KGB
January 9th, 2007, 09:34 AM
hmmm...here's my take on this teaser....
I think these are "penthouse" units, and I think they are for Signature. I think they are simply doing a bit of reverse marketing, by promoting the most spectacular part of the building...the penthouses, first...creating a buzz for the building, which will then sell the "regular" units even faster.
I don't think this could be a "smaller" building, as there really is no site at Cityplace where such a small building would go. Direct elevator access would imply maybe two suites per floor (could be more if you got creative with layouts), but generally speaking, the building would have small floorplates.
They are also implying this is tall..."unobstructed views"..."own the sky"...this aint going to happen in a twenty-something storey building at Cityplace. This is only going to happen at the top of the tallest building in the development...probably a re-designed Signature with some kind of "penthouse pod" at the top.

I agree with KGB - and looking at the teaser on the website this is clearly the signature. A picture of a tower - that peeks through the clouds?! All of their other ads for the other towers show how urban the structures are - ie Luna the drawing shows how close it is to Skydome and the CN Tower.
And it doesn't hurt any future towers - they get buyers in who will balk at the prices and be sold units in their harder to sell towers.
Maybe it's going to be curvy - aka - the miss. tower.
Anyone know the release date?
KGB
January 9th, 2007, 09:49 AM
And maybe it's just my wild imagination, but I think the logo gives a clue.
Look at the "O" in Panorama....it is the same shape as the "part" of the building in that rendering. Now look at the two intersecting rounded triangular white lines around it....maybe they are just mindless bits of graphic detail...or maybe they represent the larger base of the building, and the "O" represents the smaller "penthouse pod" at the tapered top of the building.
I think they figure the old design has simply been left behind the curve in the GTA's condo design wars....I don't think they want to play second fiddle to the Absolute towers in Mississauga...I think they are out to impress....and the old Signature design really doesn't cut it as it was, even if it was fairly tall.

im also agreeing that this could very well be signature, wouldnt make sense if it wasnt! I cant wait till they release all the info and designs. All the little bits of evidence seem to say that is is signature..or should i say Panorma? lol

Yeah and it's peaking above the "rim" of the open skydome (oops rogers centre.) This reminds me of their spectrum towers in vancouver--use of colour perhaps? A call to the sales centre would surely confirm what location this dubai-style weirdness is destined for. I wonder who their architect is.

That doesn't make sense to me and sounds like a bad approximation
http://www.urbandb.com/canada/ontario/toronto/cityplacewest_it002.pdf
I'll place my bets on it being Block 26W or Block 29. They're the next in line, have zoning approvals in place for towers, arguably closer to Bathurst than Spadina, and connects to Lake Shore via Dan Leckie Way making it Bathurst and Lake Shore. Luna is approximately at Front and Spadina depending on the sales person you ask.

It can't be Bathurst and Lakeshore...that land is owned by Wittington. They also own Blocks 33 and 37 of the Railway Lands (north of the Gardiner south of Fort York Blvd)...and the city owns the blocks north of Fort York Blvd.
The only land Concord has is the land East of Dan Leckie Way and north of Fort York Blvd. And I don't see how this location fits the description at all of what the vague marketing for Panorama suggests. The building is low and I don't see much "unobstructed" views, given this will be a shrimpy building surrounded by taller buildings.
I also don't see this as the prime spot in their development to market super-luxury condos with private elevators and such...it is actually the least desireble spot in the whole development to be marketing their most high-end units, considering the city owns the land right next to it, and will pronaly fill it with affordable housing and probably some assisted housing.
Just doesn't work for me....maybe they are just being very liberal in their marketing pitch...but a little too much to sound right.

You mean that little chunk of land where the gardiner and Lakeshor part?
Yea...that's a real attractive location. I can't see anybody forking over good money to live in that shiity spot. And it would have to fairly elevated just to get above the Gardiner (look for elevated parking...maybe that's why they get private garages). Can you imagine the noise, surrounded by the Gardiner on one side and Lakeshore on the other???
If you are sure, than you're sure I guess...but it still doesn't make much sense to me.

I simply don't believe the sales agent in this case. I've known enough of them personally (outside of purchases) to realize that when they don't know an answer, they'll make something up because 1) they're not legally responsible for what they say, 2) most people forget, and 3) it makes them look knowledgeable and helpful at the time.
If you told me you were in contact with the architect, finance folks, etc. then I would believe you. I know too much about how the front desk and sales agents run in these things to believe them about any project they cannot earn an immediate commission on, and even then I assume it's exaggerated or tailored to fit my profile.

You might be confusing the "Signature" tower with this one.
Signature is supposed to be the 60 or so storey building within Cityplace and the last Cityplace tower to be built.
I was under the impression that this building (Panorama) is not part of the Cityplace development but just another Concord-Adex development near "Cityplace".

Awww poor beaver. The first and only thing expropriated from the site. I wonder how much compensation hes getting from the city.

It's not a beaver. It's a groundhog and they're annoying beyond comprehension when they dig a hole in your yard and hide inside their burrows. Almost impossible to remove and they wreck havoc to your yard once they start pumping out baby furry monsters.
Just caught one in my yard today... and it took 3 days of baiting. Never had one in over 15 years of living in my current residence. Wonder where they all came from.

i will teach you the wonders of a water hose...solves the problem quite well. mix in some detergeant with it, and just cover up the the hole. not even any need to dig a grave
:P

I've thought of this, but upon conducting some research on the matter, it seems like these buggers tend to have an alternate escape hole in addition to the main one is that visible. Although I haven't had any luck locating any secondary hole. Any one know if it's possible to buy gas grenades? I wish I could just slide a high explosive in there, but it's right next to the foundation of the house.

Yes, the high explosives definitely sound too much like Bugs Bunny shows! :)

I just realized that Panorama and Parade are different projects. Man, too many mushrooms popping up over there.
But hey, I know a beaver when I see one.

Panorama is at ground level. The groundhog has been evicted and his home demolished to make room for a trailer.
