Hello all...

was wondering if it would be useful to have a forum dedicated to development news, like most of the other metro forums have.

yay or nay?

There's not as much activity here, so it's kind of easy to see everything without having to organize it more.

Actually their is lots of activity here! We have 26,912 posts(and I think we started later) by comparison NYC has 28,091 and Chi ahead of us all at 39,067. Yes, we deserve a development forum as well.

And here I thought this thread was about renovations to this venue:

Yeah, but remember that half of the posts here are from spammers from Chicago.

i miss LA to DEATH.

great city to say the least,

a city too massive in scale for most people to understand
or to form an intelligent opinion,

I really miss being there,
and can recognize LA on tv in 2 seconds.

I say EXPAND

This sounds like a good idea but we don't have as many projects as say Chicago or Miami. However, that will probably change over time.

I don't have a problem with expanding.

But what we also need is a L.A. moderator here. Thats why there so many anti-L.A. spammers here. And they still blame the L.A. forum as the worst forum on SSC when its not even us when its the spammers.

What! I've never heard locals call it 'The Great Western Forum'. Its always been 'The Forum' ever since I can remember.

I vote no on the expansion. The other cities that are "expanded" seem to have less activity on the sub-boards and that just makes them look like ghost towns. It would also take too much clicking around just to find what could easily be viewed on a single page. I think it's fine the way it is.

Jasonhouse
January 27th, 2007, 01:11 AM
whether they seem to have less activity or not doesn't matter. They do in fact have more traffic and more quality content. Imrpoved organization will not hurt the forum, I assure you.

I agree. i think we need two new sections to the LA Forum, a Skybar where all the BS can be posted and a development section with specific threads, namely Downtown LA updates, Downtown LA New projects, LA Metro New projects, LA Metro Updates.

Whenever I feel like I have gotten adequate input from you folks, to the point that I am confident in doing whatever it is that I will do to the forum for you.

(hope that made sense, because it wasn't supposed to sound like some politicized baloney answer)

Westsidelife

Now that I think about it, I think we should leave it at be. Maybe we could expand it in the future when we have more developments planned.

It might make sense to break the forum into parts. LA is a really big place and you could probably separate Orange county into a separate section, you might also break the county itself into East side/West side/ cental city and port.

FROM LOS ANGELES

There should be a poll!

LA-dude
January 27th, 2007, 08:22 AM
I like how on SSP they have it separated into :Long Beach, Wilshire, Hollywood, Downtown, OC, etc.. We should have someting like this. Or if that is broken up too much then we could have Downtown and LA metro(except Downtown)......what do you guys think?

future_trance011
January 27th, 2007, 11:23 AM
I wouldn't mind expansion at all..but at the same time I still believe in the saying "If it ain't broke, don't fix it!" ....Whether we expand or not its still a win-win situation in my eyes. :)

I hope you can do it. Thats the only way anti-L.A. spammers and trollers will stay out of here if we have a L.A.-based moderator.

I think we need at least two local moderators here.

Perhaps splitting the forum into a
1) skybar,
2) downtown updates + new project, and
3) LA metro update + new project

That would only be 3 separate categories which might be broad enough to have a decent level of traffic?

As far as SSP goes, I believe the entire state of California is one forum with LA sharing space with other CA cities. The separation into Wilshire etc. are just posts.

Jasonhouse

I'm just going to make a development news forum for now... inside that forum, we can have 2-3 sticky threads for lists of developments, and then individual threads for each project (at least the ones with enough info about them).

Then on the main LA forum, we can have a 'chit-chat' type thread stickied...

Once there is a dedicated mod, things will inevitably get busier still, and then we'll grow it more.

I nominate me as moderator. I am the most senior LA forumer! In the start it was just me Blink-182 (who became Vanstripp and LA Lover and then got kicked off for warring with me) and Benji. Benji left after one the Midwest forumers kept on calling him a "Fag." So out of the original triumivirate, I am the OCTAVIAN.

I'm really surprised Silverlake doesn't have his own reality show on VH1. Just imagine Silverlake living in a house with the likes of Ozzie Osborne, Anna Nicole Smith, Paris Hilton, Nicole Richie, Vanilla Ice, and what's his name...that one rapper from Public Enemy that's always carrying an over-sized clock around his neck from..grrr! I'm forgetting his name. Excuse me, must be the cold medicine..

Banned for what? Believing LA is a real city? I know that goes against the beliefs of 99% of the forumers, but I don't think I should be excommunicated.

OK I changed my sig. But what is up with those totalitarian rules. "no signatures are allowed that offend others"? So I say a signature is offensive to me it has to be changed?

dude, you are on a site where people from over 50 countries and vastly different cultures post. If you want to be a part of a unique community like this, you simply have to give up a bit of 'personal freedom'.

...or to put it more bluntly, get a clue!
