LA Marathon/Bike Tour

The marathon will be taking place in just over a month, will anybody be participating? I'm really interested in running a marathon in my lifetime, but unfortunately I was born with pretty crappy knees, so I can barely run 1 mile, let alone 26. Anyways, I'm considering riding in the bike tour. Has anyone ever done this? I guess it starts real early in the morning, but you get to ride all the city and there are no cars on the streets.

Fullerton, I thought you were training for the LA Triathlon. So your going to participate in both competitions?

I'm hoping so. I'm on my bike every weekend and at the gym a couple of times a week. Good news about my knees though, my doctor says he can get me running again. Probably not 26.2 miles, but hopefully the 5 or 6 that are in the triathlon. I feel so crappy being 25 and having the knees of someone twice my age, but hopefully I will be running marathons one day.

What's wrong with your knees, If you don't mind me asking? So are you on like permanent disability?

It's a new course, I think I might go this year! What sealed the deal for me was that it now goes to the Eastside and the home stretch to downtown is on the 6th Street Viaduct (the one with the killer skyline view from the east).

I've done the first bike tour in '95 (Met Mayor Riordan and Muhammad Ali after I was done) and again in 2000.

Both times it rained!

Yes, I'm hesitant at going at it again for fear that it'll be another rain-drenched trek!

Maybe we can make a meet out of this, haha

Today is the last day you can register for $35. After today it becomes $45.
