Construction activity has started at the Minto Skyy site next to the picturesque Dairy Queen at Broadview and Pottery Rd.
I have set up a separate blog for those puchasers who wish to share thoughts and keep up to date on what's going on. Here is the link for that:

LOL! Never thought I'd hear "picturesque" and "Dairy Queen" in the same sentence!

Yes indeed. Tinges of intended sarcasm there for sure...although some may think nostalgically on this landmark DQ. I'm not one of them!

I know the Minto Skyy site is not in prime time downtown condo territory, but I thought I would share a few photos that I took last Sunday

I'm one that is glad the Dairy Queen property wasn't included in this project. And, the view from the backyard deck is undeniably picturesque.

This one will look nice off the DVP and the view will be incredible towards the city.

Here is a rendering of a Minto Skyy suite looking south-west over the valley and towards the city

it is a rendering... I'm not sure how much I trust renderings.

I own one of these to be built suites. From what I recall, the ceiling heights are pretty standard...and I think that they may be a foot higher on some of the upper floors. So the rendering may make the ceiling look higher than it really is. Incidentally, although the the first shovel was dropped more or less on time, the digging and preparing the foundation and that has taken quite a long time. Because it is such a small site on the very edge of the valley, it seems that it has been logistically challenging having to constantly shuffle everything around + the winter has not been exactly kind for construction etc...

They really should have bulldozed that dairy queen.

and where would you get your Brazier burger?? And the strawberry topped sundae?
Sure, bulldoze the DQ..... but you have to then deal with the fact that the treats will stop.

Sorry, for the extra posts, but when I tried to insert the pic URLs, they came across as massive and screwed up the page. Links here instead.

The Minto Skyy room rendering reminds me off the suite that JZ and Beyonce used to rent in the Time-Warner Centre in NYC. I saw it on some real estate website, the bedroom (on the 78th floor or whatever) looked like that, overlooking central park. That condo cost $25 million though!

Dexter, you can do one of two things... resize your photos to a max size of 1000 x 669 before uploading, or use Photobucket, which has an option for you to choose the final posting size of your picture! :)
to me Photobucket is by far the best uploading system. They just improved their bulk uploading system, which makes the process SO FAST. It is free, but I happily pay the $25 a year to get unlimited bandwidth.

Is this going to be taller than the buildings next door?

Thanks for the photo importing tips Taller. MintoSkyy will be taller than the apartments on either side. I think the 1 apartment immediately north is around 15 stories, and this one will be 25.
