Yeah, obnoxious when little or no info are given.

They put up a sexy girl or happy couple hoping to get your attention, trying to create an air of mystery, so maybe it will stick in your mind.

These add folks are experts in psychology.

I don't know of anything advertised where they don't imply, "All beautiful and sexy people use this product".

there is a condo going up in coquitlam and its got all these images of women and nothing showing the development itself - its almost like the development is an after thought

condos are being marketed to "lifestyles" the property isnt important anymore, just the image you see yourself in.

if you look closely at some of the Rennie Marketing ads, you can see Bob Rennie himself posing - often as one half of a (straight) couple, which is ironic for an openly gay man who lives with his partner in the stunning Erickson building by Granville Island (the Waterfall?).

p.s. i've been lurking for awhile, but because of my interest in marketing, it was this thread that finally convinced me to join!

Welcome aboard, montrealer25! That's some interesting trivia.

The one recent ad that sticks out to me as terribly bad is the Wesbrook condo at UBC. The one that has a huge lens flare effect against the not very attractive silhouette of the building (the website (http://thewesbrook.com/) has a similar cheesy effect).

Has anyone else discovered CondoHype (http://condohype.wordpress.com/)? http://condohype.wordpress.com/

It's a blog devoted to deconstructing these ads and it is well worth a look.
