Cubical Houses | Rotterdam, The Netherlands

[Vertigo]

Kubuswoningen, or Cubical Houses in Rotterdam. Built in the 80s, designed by architect Piet Blom. Before he built these in Rotterdam, a small amount of Cubical Houses was built in Helmond.

The Cubical Houses are all cubes, tilted 45 degrees and standing on a pole. Together they form a huge "wood" of these houses. A major road goes beneath the houses.

They're weird... imagine living in one of those! So, what do you think of it?

Hmmm...I wouldn't say they were good, but they certainly enliven the area. Probably a bit too late for Post-Modernism, so the question is: why? Plus I banged my head whilst walking around the awkward spaces inside. 6.5/10
